Recovery, Wellbeing and Citizenship - IIMHL match event

There are 31 subject-specific meetings (‘matches’) associated with the International Initiative for Mental Health Leadership Exchange being held in Sydney. This is one of them.

Flourish Australia (formerly Richmond PRA) hosts this match at Figtree Conference Centre in Olympic Park. Co-facilitated by Fay Jackson, GM Inclusion, Pam Rutledge, CEO and Mark Orr, CIO, the match will take a holistic approach to people claiming their full citizenship through education, training, employment, physical health, emotional well-being, self-agency, partnerships and community participation.  The keynote address will be delivered by Janet Meagher AM, a highly regarded consumer advocate from Sydney, Australia, who will talk about pathways from recovery to citizenship.

On Day 1 participants will present issues and opportunities from their experience and context around the key elements of citizenship. On Day  2, there will be a range of speakers  leading discussion on best practice and research, in the following areas:i

  • Physical health and wellbeing
  • Peer work
  • Open dialogue approaches
  • Employment pathways
  • Education pathways
  • Workplace mental health.

Together, participants will develop a framework for citizenship which they will take to the conference, for presentation to delegates from other fields within the mental health arena.
