Anne Deveson was a highly respected journalist, author, broadcaster, filmmaker, mental health advocate and one of Australia’s national treasures.

She was a fearless and passionate advocate, always putting others before herself. During her life Anne fought for less discrimination and better support in mental health, human rights, women’s rights and LGBT rights.

In 1986, she teamed up with another mental health pioneer Dr Margaret Leggatt to launch the Schizophrenia Australia Foundation, now SANE Australia. Together they opened up the national public conversation about mental illness in Australia.

We invite anyone who knew Anne to pay their respects at this public event and encourage you to share the details with your contacts.

Can’t attend? SANE will broadcast a live stream of the service online. Register for the event on Facebook to receive updates and notifications.
