Prior to the Conference, a Public Forum for Carers and Consumers will be held on Thursday 13 September in the evening. Be sure to inform your colleagues, other carers and consumers that could be interested.

The following keynote speakers will give a short plain English version of their plenary presentations and take questions at the Public Forum:

  • Professor Vera Morgan  
    Head of the Neuropsychiatric Epidemiology Research Unit & Deputy Director (Epidemiology), Centre for Clinical Research in Neuropsychiatry, The University of Western Australia
    Operational Epidemiologist, North Metropolitan Health Service Mental Health
    Adjunct Professor, Menzies Institute for Medical Research, University of Tasmania 

  • Dr Richard Schweiser  
    Dr Richard Schweizer works as an affiliate of the University of Sydney in Mental Health Nursing. Richard completed his PhD thesis with the University of Sydney in 2016; his thesis focused on processes of rebuilding and maintaining identity in people after a diagnosis of schizophrenia. Richard was himself diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2003. Richard also works as a Policy Officer at One Door Mental Health and is a volunteer at Jewish Care, as well as being a member of the Consumer Led Research Network, based in the Brain and Mind Centre.
