Northern Sydney Local Health District is hosting a series of Consumer/Peer Worker Interagency Forums as part of a project funded by the Sydney North Primary Health Network.

The first forum will take participants on a journey through the history of the mental health consumer movement in Australia, looking at examples along the way, and finishing with the current position of support for peer workforce from the NSW Mental Health Commission.

The forums are open to consumer/peer workers including volunteers from public, non-government organisations and private mental health services, as well as those living within the Northern Sydney LHD who aspire to work as a peer in mental health services.

The forum is free to attend, and includes catering.

Booking is essential by 1 May as spaces are limited.

Speakers:

Fay Jackson, NSW Deputy Mental Health Commissioner

Leonie Manns, Peer Work Consultant, past Chair of the NSW Disability Council and NSW Mental Health Association

Paula Hanlon, Consumer Services Manager, North Shore Ryde Mental Health Service

Michael Appleton, Volunteer, North Shore Ryde Mental Health Service

MC: John Hockney
