The NDS NSW Conference ‘Finding the Way Forward’ is the key annual event for disability service organisations in New South Wales. It is an opportunity to hear about solutions to emerging NDIS issues and challenges and forge a path forward together.
The conference, offering over 20 plenary and concurrent sessions, will be held at the Hilton Sydney on 15 and 16 February 2018.
Delegates at the conference will hear from participants taking innovative approaches to get the most out of their NDIS plans, and academics sharing their reflections on leading models of advocacy and support. There will be a unique opportunity to hear from fellow service providers about a range of topics including disability employment, workforce innovation and financial sustainability.
At the conference, you will be one of the first to hear from newly-appointed Commissioner Designate, Graeme Head, about the role of the National Quality and Safeguarding Commission and plans for its establishment. ABC investigative reporter Louise Milligan will deliver a keynote address, and we will explore the new NDIS Practice Standards and new obligations for providers under privacy law.
The first day will also look at the future of transport from the perspective of key players such as the Point to Point Transport Commission in NSW, Uber, and the Taxi Industry.
On the second day of the conference, participants will look at mainstream interfaces with the NDIS in relation to health, mental health and out-of-home care (OOHC), and solutions to emerging gaps in these areas. Delegates will have the chance to attend concurrent sessions on critical service areas such as Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).
With this jam-packed program, National Disability Services (NDS) looks forward to welcoming you to the conference for two days of problem-solving and collaboration between providers, government organisations, media, academia and people with disability.
