Do you qualify as a Carer?

Carers are people who have had contact with inpatient or community mental health services.

Join the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) for a patient journey mapping session!

The ACI would like to invite you to take part in a carer focus group and a patient journey mapping session. This session is part of a larger project that is seeking to understand mental health service delivery in NSW.

The session will be facilitated by project team members. These team members include a clinician, a consumer-led researcher and two Aboriginal-identified ACI staff members.

What does the mapping session involve?

The focus group and patient journey mapping session will occur at the same time.

Approximately 10 individuals will attend the session alongside you.

Questions will be asked about your experiences of accessing mental health services, what has worked well and opportunities for improvement.

The session will be audio-recorded.

The session will not require you to discuss distressing experiences but will focus on ideas to improve services.

It is important that you understand that participation in this focus group is entirely voluntary and you can leave at any time without having to provide a reason.

How will the outcomes of the mapping session be used?

Outcomes will be used to improve mental health service delivery and consumer and carer experiences of care, with the aim of reducing experiences of harm and re-traumatisation in services.

What is patient journey mapping?

Hypothetical patient journey mapping is often used in health project work.

Patient journey mapping helps us understand the patient (consumer) and carer experiences through the health service or system.

We encourage Aboriginal carers to attend.
