This workshop is being run by SAMSN (Survivors and Mates Support Network).

This workshop is designed to assist clinicians and other professionals working with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. We will look at the vulnerabilities of boys being sexually abused and how this often translates into feelings of shame, guilt and confusion for adult male survivors.

The effects of childhood abuse on men will be examined and strategies that can help men recover will be explored. Specific attention will be paid to the role of group work, looking at the unique advantages that support from peers can bring to the recovery process.

This workshop will include a Q&A/discussion with the Co-Founders of SAMSN and will emphasise the importance of trauma aware practice. Craig & Shane will share their personal journey including dealings with police, the criminal justice system & therapists.
