The NSW Mental Health Commission welcomes the Productivity Commission’s draft report on mental health and hopes that the recommendations made in the report can work alongside the refreshed Living Well strategy for NSW to be released later in 2020.

The Commission congratulates the Productivity Commission on encapsulating a whole-of-life approach to mental health that will deliver fundamental system change and improve outcomes for people with lived experience of mental health issues and caring, their families and kinship groups.

In January 2020, the Commission responded to the draft report by identifying priorities for reform that will strengthen the final report and the included recommendations. These priorities were informed by the Living Well mid-term review community consultations held across NSW throughout 2019.
