In 2018, a five year statutory review of the Commission was completed and found that the Commission was fulfilling its functions. The Review also provided the Commission with valuable feedback for ongoing improvement, including that the Commission should continue to strengthen its engagement with Aboriginal people and communities to prioritise Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing. The Review suggested that the Commission establish an Aboriginal governance and engagement mechanism to support this.
Developing an engagement mechanism with Aboriginal people and communities started with a consultation in December 2018. Since then the Commission has worked with the group to outline more formally how best we can work together. The report from this process is now available.
