This is the Annual Report of the Mental Health Commission of New South Wales for 2014-15.
In December 2014, the NSW Government adopted Living Well: A Strategic Plan for Mental Health in NSW: 2014- 2024, developed by the Commission following consultation with more than 2000 people and organisations, including 800 people who experience mental illness and their families and carers.
The Plan, which sets out a 10 year vision for better mental health and wellbeing, includes 141 Actions that together will create a strong platform for better mental health and wellbeing for everyone in NSW.
With the Strategic Plan released and adopted, the Commission’s core role changes to that described in our establishment legislation - one of monitoring and reviewing the mental health system, and reporting annually to Parliament on what we find. This year we have worked hard behind the scenes to develop this capacity.
