"With my painting I enjoy mixing the white and blue paint with modelling paste to create textured loose lines. I find I can let go and see what happens – there’s no right or wrong in the painting.
I paint for the pursuit of relaxation and the capacity to get “outside of myself”. Painting provides an escape from both myself and a reality that can be hard for me at times. I have many feelings of sadness and grief associated with my illness. These include a loss of some of my memory and mental functioning which have resulted in the loss of my profession that I dearly loved. I value the work that I did caring for people who were sick and supporting them to get better. Now I find that I am the one who is unwell and I value those who support me."
