Health Justice Partnerships
29 March 2017

Local partnerships between legal and health services could act as a powerful early intervention program and improve access to justice for people with mental illness.

This paper arose from work undertaken by the Health Justice Community of Practice that includes the Mental Health Commission of NSW, Legal Aid NSW and other health and legal organisations. While Health Justice Partnerships (HJPs) are relatively new in Australia, they have played a central role in creating a more equitable and humane system in the United States and the paper’s intent is to promote the practice here.
