Living Well reflects the needs, wishes and priorities of people across the State. Listening has been an essential part of the process. For the development of Living Well the Commission held a series of forums with a diverse range of groups and communities across NSW. These forums were opportunities for people - young, old and in-between - to share their experiences, views and ideas for change. What we heard came together in the documents listed below. These were then used to refine ideas, to generate more ideas and, ultimately, to inform Living Well.
What we know - the consumer perspective on mental health reform (PDF 656 KB)
This document outlines what people living with mental illness and NSW Consumer Advisory Group – Mental Health Inc. (the peak body representing people with a lived experience of mental illness) told us needs to change.
The Commission undertook a very broad consultation process to inform the development of the draft of Living Well, including face-to-face meetings, forums and online discussions. In order to supplement these consultations, some organisations were invited by the Commission to provide submissions for consideration. The submissions that were approved for publication by the organisations involved are listed on this website.
These papers were commissioned by the NSW Mental Health Commission to inform the development of the draft of Living Well.
